چکیده
Abstract Background Agriculture crops such as tomatoes and wheat are frequently targeted by insect pests which have a significant negative impact on the agricultural economies. The deployment of entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) for control is an important alternative to synthetic insecticides. EPF, Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin, has been reported widely suitable biological agent many pests. Results In this study, B. SS-1 was isolated from local plant its pathogenicity assessed against greater wax moth larvae Galleria mellonella (L.). development pathogenic visualized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). showed ability secrete extracellularly enzymes essential cuticle penetration. SS1 recorded maximum mean lipase (5.3 U/ml), protease (32.13 chitinase activities (2.95 U/ml). endophytic fungus demonstrated fourth instar G. showing LC 50 at 2.47 × 10 2 conidia/ml 95 3.98 5 conidia/ml. SEM results physical contact with hyphae surface . Thus, EPF SS-1, even endophytic, could be promising biocontrol manage Conclusion This study provided comprehensive characterization microbiological characteristics. Future studies needed focus detection highly virulent isolates different assess their field contribution favorable agent.

The fungus Beauveria bassiana is naturally found in poultry houses and causes high rates of mortality in Alphitobius diaperinus. Laboratory and field experiments have shown the potential of this fungus as an insect control agent. However, in poultry houses, bacteria as Salmonella, can be found and have been studied alternative control methods for this pathogen. Thus, this study aimed to evaluat...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Biological control of sandflies using entomopathogenic fungi is a possible alternative to the expensive synthetic chemical control. It is potentially sustainable, less hazardous, and relatively inexpensive and merits further investigations.
